Fun: life is too short to not have some fun whenever possible. Research has also shown that we’re more creative and focused and produce better results when we’re relaxed and having fun.
How We Approach All Our Work
We engage a variety of strategies for continuous professional and personal development. These include being mentors and a mentees, reading and listening to podcasts, observing other facilitators work, seeking feedback from other facilitators, reviewing and reflecting on reports and presentations published by others, and attending training events on directly and indirectly related topics. Consequently, we have been refining our methodology, facilitation style, relationship building efforts, report and tool creation, and other service delivery approach aspects over the course of our entire careers, and particularly in the last five to eight years.
Who We Are
We are creative, inclusive facilitators, policy experts, community builders, governance and leadership designers, public engagement practitioners, and thought leaders with experience bringing people together for meaningful conversations on complex issues; systems change; collaborative, inclusive decision making; strategic planning; and working towards a healthier, more equitable future.
We believe we can tackle the wicked problems we face in organizations and communities by transforming workplace and organization culture, nonprofit governance, public policy development, and service delivery and to have it all be informed by real dialogue that engages everyone, particularly equity-deserving people, and true allyship with Indigenous Peoples. For several years now, we have been working to understand unconscious bias, intersectionality, colonization, power, and privilege and how it plays out in teams, communities, systems, and institutions. Every day we work to expand our understanding and awareness and to further integrate it into our work.
Together we want to support groups of diverse people having meaningful conversations and working together in equitable ways to find long-term, systems solutions and to create better outcomes for programs, policies, organizations and the people they serve. We do this by acknowledging and addressing diversity, equity, and complexity instead of oversimplifying, creating brave spaces for respectful and honest dialogues, and supporting individuals and teams with transformation.

Heather Collier

Writer, Researcher, GBA+ Analyst, and Consultant Extraordinaire
Heather is an experienced policy professional, who has spent her career tackling some of society's most wicked problems.
Engagements on key issues relating to poverty, human rights, economic development, and cross-jurisdictional negotiations.
With nearly two decades of experience in a government setting, Heather has lead major policy files and engagements on key issues relating to poverty, human rights, economic development, and cross-jurisdictional negotiations. Heather is well-versed in the principles and practice of GBA+ analysis and in navigating complex bureaucracies and supporting them through periods of transition. Her speciality is helping drive organizations to the root causes of a problem and creating concrete solutions to address complex challenges.

As a cis-woman with multiple intersecting disabilities, including mental health challenges and adult-diagnosed ADHD, Heather is also an advocate for mental health system changes and for creating spaces that are neurodivergent-inclusive.
Finding joy in the small things.
Heather holds a BA and MA in Political Science from the Universities of Calgary and Alberta, with a focus on policy development and federalism. In her free time, Heather is mom, partner, dog-lover, a Girl Guide leader, weightlifter, and beginner tap dancer and believes that we find joy in the small things in life.
